The Centre for Drylands Agriculture (CDA) at Bayero University, Kano, has appointed Dr. Salamatu Garba, founder and executive board chair of the Women Farmers Advancement Network (WOFAN), as the chairperson of its sectoral and industry advisory board.
The three-year appointment recognizes Dr. Garba’s decades of leadership in agricultural development and her dedicated work in advancing the livelihoods of women and youth in dryland communities.
Her role is expected to strengthen partnerships between researchers, policymakers, and the private sector, while promoting sustainable and innovative farming practices suitable for Nigeria’s dryland regions.
