A committee established by the Kebbi State Government to recover stolen livestock has returned 19 cows to their rightful owners after a careful screening and verification process.
The Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Livestock Development and Fisheries, Ramatu Usman Dabai, confirmed the development in Birnin Kebbi. She stated that ten claimants were invited for screening by a committee comprising security agencies and officials from the Ministries of Justice and Local Government to ensure transparency.
The recovery effort was part of Governor Nasir Idris’s initiative to secure lives and property in the state. One of the beneficiaries, Abubakar Liman from Bunza Local Government, recovered five of his stolen animals and commended the government for the intervention.
The committee remains active in identifying and returning more stolen livestock to owners across Kebbi.
