₦30.5bn Boost for Food Security as Dangote, NNPC, Governors Back First Lady’s Initiative

In a major move to combat hunger and strengthen food security across Nigeria, leading stakeholders including billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), and state governors have collectively pledged ₦30.5 billion in support of the First Lady’s food bank initiative.

The initiative, championed by Nigeria’s First Lady, is designed to provide relief to vulnerable households facing rising food costs and economic hardship. The fund is expected to drive large-scale food distribution programs, support local food production, and ensure improved access to essential food supplies nationwide.

Aliko Dangote, through his foundation, reaffirmed his commitment to humanitarian causes, emphasizing the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing national challenges. Similarly, the NNPC pledged significant financial support as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts.

State governors also joined the initiative, highlighting a unified approach to tackling food insecurity at both federal and state levels. The collaboration is seen as a timely intervention amid growing concerns over inflation and the cost of living.

Analysts note that the ₦30.5 billion pledge could significantly impact millions of Nigerians if transparently managed and efficiently deployed.

The First Lady expressed gratitude to all contributors, stating that the initiative will prioritize the most vulnerable populations, including women, children, and internally displaced persons.
