The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially inaugurated its 618-member 2027 Presidential Campaign Council in Umuahia. In a major political development, the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared total support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the campaign council was inaugurated by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu. Addressing the gathering, Kalu stated that President Tinubu chose a difficult path to reform Nigeria and is determined to make the nation great.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the South-East, Kalu urged the region to align with the centre, stating, “We must come together and shake hands across the Niger to remain relevant.” He called for the President to be allowed to complete his eight-year tenure to solidify his reforms.
Announcing the PDP’s coalition with the APC, the PDP deputy governorship candidate, Abraham Amah, said their decision was based on the President’s performance. “No organisation can do this alone. The benefit of that partnership is that it will enhance what they will be able to secure in Abia State,” Amah stated.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the Coordinator of the Campaign Council and APC state chairman, Chijioke Chukwu, described the occasion as a new dawn for the party. He appealed to Kalu to use his relationship with the President to fill the Federal Executive Council vacancy left by the resignation of Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, urging that the slot be given to a bona fide APC member.
