…APC Candidate Declares Mission Not Born Out of Things Working, But Need for Change
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Abia State, Chief Eric Opah, has unveiled a new campaign message ahead of the 2027 governorship election, declaring that his mission is driven by the need for a better Abia rather than an endorsement of the status quo.
CDA News Nigeria reports that in the campaign poster circulating across the state, Opah is presented under the slogan “Abia Deserves More!” with the message: “I did not embark on this mission because things are working. I came because Abia deserves better.”
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the poster formally identifies Opah as the APC candidate for Governor of Abia State, with a direct call to voters: “Vote Eric Opah for Governor, Abia State.”
The campaign message reflects the candidate’s stated position that his aspiration is anchored on the need for improved governance, development, and a better deal for Abia residents.
Opah emerged as the APC governorship candidate following the party’s May 2026 primary. The party has since reaffirmed his candidacy amid a challenge from supporters of former minister Henry Ikoh.
He recently declared that his campaign would offer voters a “better alternative,” accusing the Abia State Government of using high campaign billboard fees to restrict political competition. He also said he would regard ordinary Abians as the “real billboards” of his campaign.
