2027: I Won’t Fold My Hands, Allow Atiku Win – Wike on Relocating to Rivers

The FCT Minister says he is returning to Rivers State to ensure his political structure is not undermined ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has declared that he will not sit back and allow former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to win the 2027 presidential election, stating that he is relocating to Rivers State to protect his political interests .

Wike made the remarks during a civic reception in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, where he addressed supporters and stakeholders. According to a statement by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, Wike said the election will be about “a choice between those who want Nigeria to fail and those who want the country to succeed,” without explicitly naming any candidate.

“I am going to relocate to Rivers State to ensure that no one takes our political structure for granted. I will not fold my hands and allow Atiku to win,” Wike declared.

His comments come amid ongoing tensions between Wike and his political godson, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and reports of a growing political realignment in Rivers State. The FCT Minister had previously demanded that Fubara “show him respect,” insisting he remains the leader of Rivers politics.

Wike also praised President Bola Tinubu for his leadership, describing him as “a man of courage who takes decisions in the interest of Nigeria” amid mounting criticism of the president’s economic reforms.
