Ukeh Hails Otti’s “Courageous” Demand to Account for Abia’s ₦10bn Airport Funds

In a strong opinion piece, analyst Ifeanyichukwu E. Uke has commended Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for his bold demand that the previous administration either provide proof of the ₦10 billion airport project or refund the money to the state.

The article, titled “A Bold Stand for Accountability,” describes Otti’s move as a “moral reckoning” and a historic shift from Nigeria’s prevalent culture of unaccounted public spending. Uke argues that the governor’s action transcends politics and represents a restoration of public trust and a warning against governance without transparency.

“When a government says ₦10 billion has been spent on an airport, the people should be able to stand on its runway, not just read about it in archives,” Uke stated, capturing the central demand for tangible evidence over paper projects.

The piece frames Otti’s stance as a courageous confrontation of the past for the sake of restitution and principle, setting a new tone of accountability for Abia State and potentially for Nigerian governance at large.
