The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has called on Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, to cease what it describes as coordinated propaganda and attacks against the Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu.
In a statement signed by its President-General, Goodluck Ibem, the group alleged that Governor Otti is engaging in political posturing aligned with separatist agendas and is using attacks on Senator Kalu to destabilize the lawmaker’s efforts and the region’s unity.
COSEYL claimed that recent criticisms and calls for Kalu not to be re-elected are “false and malicious propaganda” orchestrated to discredit the senator, whom they hailed as a “steadfast friend and advocate” for the people of Abia and the Igbo nation.
The youth coalition demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of the Ohafia Youth Association (OYA) and its sponsors, whom they accused of being used to peddle hate and division. They also urged security agencies to investigate the alleged attacks on Senator Kalu.
Furthermore, COSEYL reaffirmed the commitment of the people of Abia North to return Senator Kalu to the Red Chambers in 2027, describing his re-election as “sacrosanct.”
The group called on Governor Otti to focus on governance and avoid actions that threaten peace and unity in Abia State.
