The Presidency has issued a correction regarding recent ambassadorial postings, clarifying that no ambassador-designate has been appointed to Turkey, contrary to an earlier announcement.
In a revised statement released on Thursday by President Bola Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the State House explained that only three postings have been approved so far out of the 68 nominees confirmed by the Senate in December 2025.
The confirmed appointments are:
· Ambassador Ayodele Oke → France
· Colonel Lateef Are (rtd) → United States
· Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu → United Kingdom
The earlier announcement that included former Kebbi State Governor, Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, as ambassador-designate to Turkey was stated to be under review due to a “mix-up in names.” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been directed to notify only the three confirmed host countries at this time.
The Presidency emphasized that the posting to Turkey is still being reviewed and a final decision will be communicated officially in due course.
