IKWUANO, ABIA STATE — The Ikwuano Elites Forum (IEF) has announced plans to host an inter-secondary schools quiz competition aimed at promoting academic excellence and youth development in the area.
The competition is scheduled to take place on May 29, 2026, in Ikwuano Local Government Area, bringing together students from various secondary schools to compete in a wide range of subjects.
According to the organisers, the initiative is designed to encourage students to read extensively, improve their reasoning skills, and build confidence in their academic abilities.
The quiz will cover core subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Science, Arts, and Current Affairs.
The forum noted that while infrastructure and employment remain critical to national development, education continues to serve as the foundation for sustainable progress.
It emphasized that competitions of this nature help revive a culture of scholarship and intellectual pride among young people.
IEF further highlighted the importance of community involvement in education, stressing that the responsibility of nurturing future leaders should not rest solely on the government.
The group described the initiative as part of its broader mission to “bring out the best in our students.”
Stakeholders, educationists, and community leaders have been urged to support the programme through sponsorship and active participation.
Organisers believe the competition has the potential to become an annual academic event that will position Ikwuano as a hub for educational excellence in Abia State.
