2027: Northern Igbo Group Endorses Tinubu For Re-election, Pledges 2m Votes

The Political Movement of Igbo Delegates Assembly in the 19 Northern states and the FCT has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election, pledging to mobilise two million votes for the APC.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that the Director-General of the movement, Chief John Amaechi Onwe, disclosed this on Saturday at a press conference in Kaduna, declaring the group’s support despite the 2027 candidacy of Igbo son and NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Onwe insisted the decision was not based on ethnicity, stressing that the endorsement followed extensive consultations with traders, industrialists, youths and community leaders across the North.

He cited the removal of fuel subsidy, unification of the foreign exchange market, and infrastructure projects including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway as reforms that, though painful initially, had restored investor confidence and boosted commerce for Igbo traders in the North.

The group, adopting the theme “Continuity, Prosperity and Inclusion,” also praised the increase in NYSC monthly allowance from N33,000 to N77,000 and student loan initiatives as signs of youth-focused governance.

The movement pledged to mobilise grassroots structures for the APC and extended its support to the party’s governorship and legislative candidates across Northern states and the FCT for 2027.

CDA News Nigeria will continue monitoring political endorsements ahead of the 2027 general election.
