A powerful and timely warning has been issued to Nigerian politicians ahead of the 2027 general elections as prominent voice Bakoji declared in unequivocal terms that no politician found to be sponsoring youth thuggery, electoral violence, and the weaponisation of young Nigerians for political purposes should be allowed to escape the full consequences of their dangerous and destructive actions.
Bakoji, speaking with the passion and conviction of someone deeply concerned about the safety, dignity, and future of Nigerian youths, condemned in the strongest possible terms the deeply entrenched and morally reprehensible culture of politicians recruiting, arming, and deploying young men and women as instruments of electoral violence, intimidation, and chaos — a practice that has cost countless innocent lives and undermined Nigeria’s democratic development over decades.
“Any politician — regardless of party, position, or political influence — who sponsors youth thuggery and violence ahead of or during the 2027 elections must face the full weight of the law. No one should be above accountability when it comes to the deliberate destruction of young lives and the subversion of democracy,” Bakoji declared forcefully.
He argued passionately that Nigerian youths deserve to be empowered, educated, and uplifted — not recruited as cheap political tools by power-hungry politicians who discard them the moment elections are concluded, leaving behind a trail of trauma, criminal records, disability, and death.
Bakoji called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other relevant security and judicial agencies to proactively identify, investigate, and prosecute politicians found to be financing or orchestrating electoral violence and youth thuggery ahead of the 2027 polls.
He further urged civil society organisations, the media, community leaders, religious bodies, and parents to collectively rise up and protect Nigerian youths from being exploited as pawns in the dangerous political games of selfish and irresponsible politicians.
“Our youths are not thugs. They are our future. Any politician who turns them into instruments of violence is committing a crime against the next generation of Nigeria — and they must be held accountable,” Bakoji stated.
His warning comes at a critical time when political tensions across Nigeria are rising sharply as the 2027 electoral season intensifies, with multiple flash points of politically motivated violence already being reported in several states across the country.
Security agencies and electoral authorities have been urged to heed Bakoji’s call and take pre-emptive action to protect Nigerian democracy and its most vulnerable participants — the nation’s young people.
