2Baba’s Wife Natasha Osawaru Appointed Edo Assembly Minority Leader

BENIN CITY — Natasha Osawaru, wife of Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has been appointed Minority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly .

CDA News Nigeria gathered that the lawmaker, who represents Egor Constituency, was named to the position during Monday’s plenary session following a comprehensive reshuffle of the Assembly’s principal leadership . Her emergence came under the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after she defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in May 2026 .

Before her elevation, Osawaru served as Deputy Majority Leader and built a reputation for grassroots advocacy and championing youth and women empowerment in her constituency .

Speaking after the plenary, Osawaru described her new position as a responsibility rather than a personal achievement. “This new responsibility is not a title; it is a trust. Our democracy thrives on rigorous debate, accountability, and the courage to advocate for the ordinary citizen without compromise,” she stated .

She also reaffirmed her commitment to the development of Edo State, the progress of the NDC, and the welfare of the people of Egor Constituency .
