Wike Lauds Tinubu’s Appointment of Rivers Indigenes to Key Petroleum Boards

PORT HARCOURT – The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has publicly commended President Bola Tinubu for nominating Senator Magnus Abe as Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) board and Kenneth Kobani as a non-executive member of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

Speaking during a thank-you visit to Ogu-Bolo Local Government Area on Monday, Wike described the appointments as a demonstration of Tinubu’s commitment to the people of Rivers State.

“Just as we are coming, we have two nominations for appointment by President Tinubu—Abe and Kobani. This shows that Mr. President keeps his promises and keeps his agreements,” Wike stated.

He noted that Rivers State had “never had it this good” in terms of federal appointments under any previous administration.

Senator Magnus Abe, a former NNPC board member and two-term senator, currently chairs the National Agency for the Great Green Wall. Kenneth Kobani served as Minister of State for Trade under President Goodluck Jonathan and later as Secretary to the Rivers State Government under Wike.

Wike urged Rivers people to continue supporting President Tinubu, especially ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Local government officials at the event also praised Wike for facilitating opportunities for Rivers indigenes and pledged continued political loyalty.
