Gov Fubara Inspects Ongoing Renovation of Rivers Secretariat Complex

PORT HARCOURT, RIVERS STATE – Governor Siminalayi Fubara has inspected the ongoing renovation of the Rivers State Secretariat Complex in Port Harcourt, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to restoring critical government infrastructure.

The iconic Secretariat Complex, originally completed and commissioned in 1975 under the administration of the first Military Governor of Rivers State, Alfred Diete-Spiff, serves as the primary administrative hub of the state government.

The massive high-rise facility houses key ministries, agencies, and parastatals driving the state’s governance. The structure comprises five major buildings: the Point Block—a 17 to 20-storey tower and the tallest in the complex—the 10-storey Podium Block, and Blocks A, B, and C, three crescent-shaped buildings each rising seven floors.

During the inspection, Governor Fubara expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and directed contractors to ensure timely completion. He noted that the renovation is aimed at modernizing the facility and enhancing the working environment for public servants.

“This is part of our commitment to ensuring that our workers operate in a conducive environment,” Fubara stated.

The project is expected to be completed within the set timeline, restoring the complex to its status as a symbol of administrative excellence in the state.
