A fierce social media critic, Eke O Ako, has launched a blistering attack on Abia State Governor Alex Otti, accusing him of deceiving the Ngwa people by commissioning what he described as two uncompleted cottage hospitals at a staggering cost of N50 billion — with elections just eight months away.
In a viral post generating widespread reactions, Ako argued that N50 billion was more than enough to construct three world-class teaching hospitals for Abia citizens, describing the commissioning ceremonies as a calculated political performance designed to mislead voters ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
“You are hosting massive ceremonies to commission 2 uncompleted cottage hospitals after spending N50bn constructing non-existent hospitals,” Ako fumed, adding that Abia State has recorded no major project despite earning nearly N2 trillion in federal allocations over the past three years.
The critic further accused the governor of prioritising appearances over substance, noting that financial institutions are opening branches across the state without similar fanfare.
Ako also took aim at supporters of the administration, describing those cheering the projects as enablers of what he called the systematic abuse of Abia people.
The post has sparked heated debate online, with some residents agreeing with the criticism while others defended the governor’s developmental efforts.
Governor Otti’s media team is yet to formally respond to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
