Navy Dismantles Illegal Refinery in Rivers

PORT HARCOURT, NIGERIA – The Nigerian Navy has dismantled an illegal refining site in Rivers State, recovering large quantities of stolen crude oil during an operation in the creeks.

Acting on intelligence, operatives of the Navy’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bonny raided the illegal refinery, destroying several cooking ovens, storage tanks, and reservoirs containing stolen crude and illegally refined products. The operators reportedly fled the area upon sighting the naval team.

“This operation is part of our sustained effort to curb crude oil theft and illegal refining in the Niger Delta. We will continue to deny economic saboteurs the freedom to operate,” a Navy spokesperson stated.

The Navy urged members of the public to provide timely information on illegal refining activities, reaffirming its commitment to protecting the nation’s critical infrastructure and resources.
