Mayor Lucky Igbokwe Declares for House of Reps, Steps Down from Gov Race for Zoning, Calls for Youth Inclusion

The Chairman of Don Media Group, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, has formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The declaration took place at the APC State Secretariat in Umuahia in the presence of the State Chairman, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, members of the State Working Committee, party executives, and stakeholders. The State Chairman reaffirmed that the party remains united, with no internal divisions.

In his speech, Mayor Igbokwe reflected on his previous governorship ambition under the PDP, where he emerged as runner-up. However, in deference to equity and zoning, he announced his decision to step down from the governorship race and instead seek a House of Representatives seat, pledging full support for the party’s eventual governorship candidate.

He outlined his contributions through the private sector, including housing projects, road construction, scholarships, and youth empowerment. He urged the APC to create opportunities for young people and fresh faces who have not previously contested for office.

“I am stepping forward not just to seek a mandate, but to offer myself as a servant-leader,” he stated, promising to attract federal infrastructure, support small businesses, and maintain an open-door policy.
