A former lawmaker and popular blogger, Maria Ude Nwachi, widely known as “Afikpo Chic,” has officially declared her intention to contest for the Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives [0†L5-L9].

Nwachi, who served as a member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly representing the Afikpo North East Constituency from 2015 to 2019, made the announcement on Monday, April 27, 2026, confirming she will be running under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

She was initially elected to the State Assembly on the ticket of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) before defecting to the PDP. Known for her outspoken views and active engagement with the grassroots through her popular blog, Nwachi has built a loyal following, particularly among young people and women [3†L12-L14].
