A fierce and devastating fire broke out at a business plaza in Kano State, reducing shops, goods, and property worth millions of naira to ashes and leaving scores of traders and business owners in a state of shock and despair.
The inferno, which spread rapidly through the plaza, reportedly caught many traders off guard, leaving little time for occupants to salvage their merchandise and valuables before the flames took full hold of the building. Eyewitnesses at the scene described harrowing moments of panic as thick smoke and raging flames engulfed multiple shops within the facility.
The Kano State Fire Service was alerted and emergency responders were swiftly deployed to the scene to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring structures. Efforts by firefighters, supported by good Samaritans and community members, eventually contained the fire, though not before significant damage had been done.
No fatalities have been officially confirmed at the time of this report, though some sources indicate that a number of individuals sustained minor injuries during the chaotic evacuation.
Affected traders and shop owners, many of whom had invested their life savings into their businesses, were seen weeping openly at the scene as they surveyed the wreckage left behind by the inferno.
The cause of the fire has not yet been officially established. Investigations by relevant state authorities and emergency management agencies are currently underway.
The Kano State Government is yet to issue an official statement on the incident or announce any relief measures for the victims at the time of filing this report.
