ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Federal Government of Nigeria has formally reaffirmed the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) as the nation’s one and only legally recognised chartered body empowered to regulate the practice of Human Resource Management across the country.
The declaration, made through an official government statement, reinforces CIPM’s statutory mandate established under an Act of the National Assembly, making it the apex professional and regulatory authority for all HR practitioners in Nigeria.
Government officials used the occasion to caution employers, organisations, and individuals against engaging with or patronising unregistered or unlicensed HR bodies operating outside the law, warning that such associations carry legal consequences.
CIPM, founded in 1968 and granted a charter by the Federal Government, continues to set professional standards, certify HR practitioners, and drive workforce development across Nigeria’s public and private sectors.
