Nigeria Establishes Aviation Committee for 2026 Hajj Pilgrimage

Abuja – The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has taken a proactive step for the 2026 pilgrimage by inaugurating a special Aviation Monitoring Committee.

The Chairman of NAHCON, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, inaugurated the committee, emphasizing its critical role as “diligent gatekeepers” for all aviation matters related to the Hajj. He stated that the committee reflects the government’s “sacred trust” to ensure the comfort and safety of Nigerian pilgrims.

In his address, the chairman highlighted that aviation is the most sensitive part of Hajj operations. He urged members to perform their duties with the highest levels of integrity and professionalism, reminding them that millions of Nigerian Muslims are counting on them.

The committee’s mandate includes reviewing airline applications, inspecting airport readiness, and monitoring all inbound and outbound flights to ensure strict compliance with safety and service standards.

In response, the committee’s head, Prince Anofi Olanrewaju Elegushi, pledged the team’s total dedication, assuring that the safety and dignity of pilgrims would not be compromised.
