DSS Arrests Two Foreign Nationals, Three Others Over Niger School Kidnapping

In a major breakthrough, the Department of State Services (DSS) has confirmed the arrest of two foreign nationals and three Nigerian suspects in connection with last week’s mass kidnapping of students from a secondary school in Niger State.

A DSS source disclosed that the DSS arrests two foreign nationals over Niger school kidnapping following intense intelligence-led operations across three states. The foreign suspects, whose nationalities are being withheld pending further investigation, are believed to have served as negotiators and logistics coordinators for the kidnap gang.

The three Nigerian arrestees include a local vigilante member and two herders accused of scouting the school premises days before the attack.

“The foreign nationals played active roles in facilitating communication with the hostages’ families and receiving ransom payments in cryptocurrency,” the source said.

The DSS also recovered sophisticated communication devices and a cache of foreign currency during the raids.

All five suspects are currently in federal custody and undergoing interrogation. Authorities have assured that more arrests are imminent as the manhunt for the gang leader continues.

The Niger State Government has commended the DSS for the breakthrough.
