LAGOS – The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has firmly dismissed recent accusations from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), labeling claims that the ruling party is silencing opposition as pure “hallucination.”
The rebuttal came from APC spokesman Seye Oladejo in a statement on Thursday. His comments were a direct response to the ADC’s allegation that President Bola Tinubu is attempting to mute opposition voices ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oladejo sharply criticized the ADC’s relevance, stating, “you can’t silence what Nigerians have already tuned out.” He characterized the ADC’s statement as “the political equivalent of a mosquito accusing a lion of roaring too loudly.”
The APC spokesman suggested the ADC was already making excuses for its anticipated poor performance in future polls. He emphasized that the ruling party is concentrated on delivering results under President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and will not be distracted by “professional complainers.”
“The only thing being silenced in Nigeria today is failure, confusion, and the politics of bitterness,” Oladejo stated.
He further mocked the ADC’s standing, describing it as a party that “exists only on newspaper pages and WhatsApp groups” and questioning who would feel threatened by it. Oladejo concluded that parties lose elections not because they are silenced, but because “the people don’t believe in you.”
The APC affirmed its commitment to its national development goals, urging the ADC to “stop crying wolf” as the nation has “moved on.”
