The United States has released the official text of a 14-point Memorandum of Understanding with Iran aimed at ending hostilities and paving the way for a comprehensive peace agreement.
The “Islamabad Memorandum,” made public following transparency demands, outlines immediate termination of military operations across all fronts including Lebanon, reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and a framework for sanctions relief.
Key provisions include US removal of its naval blockade within 30 days, Iran facilitating safe commercial vessel passage, and Washington committing $300 billion for Iran’s reconstruction. The US will terminate all sanctions — UN, IAEA and unilateral — in an agreed schedule.
Iran reaffirms its commitment not to develop nuclear weapons, with enriched material to be down-blended under IAEA supervision. Frozen Iranian assets will be made fully available, while oil export waivers take immediate effect.
The MOU triggers a 60-day negotiation window for a final deal, to be endorsed by a UN Security Council resolution. Both parties agree to maintain status quo on nuclear activities and refrain from new sanctions or additional regional deployments during this period.
The formal signing is scheduled for Friday.
