JUST IN: Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya Elected 33rd NBA President

Abuja, Nigeria — Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, has emerged as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) after winning the association’s 2026 national election. CDA News Nigeria gathered that she secured 12,317 votes, defeating her closest challenger, Lateef Akangbe (SAN), who polled 7,934 votes, while Olumuyiwa Akinboro (SAN) received 5,855 votes.

The election, conducted electronically, was delayed by technical challenges and reports of a cyberattack before the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) officially announced the results. Badejo-Okusanya becomes the second woman to lead the Nigerian Bar Association, 34 years after Priscilla Kuye made history as the association’s first female president.

“I will be a President for every member of the Nigerian Bar Association. Together, we will build an Association where every lawyer has the opportunity to earn better, live better and practise better,” Badejo-Okusanya said after her victory.

She is expected to be formally inaugurated during the NBA Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, where the outgoing president, Afam Osigwe (SAN), will hand over leadership for the 2026–2028 tenure.
