Zurich, Switzerland — Spain has climbed to the top of the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings, replacing Argentina as the world’s No. 1 team following their 2026 FIFA World Cup triumph. CDA News Nigeria gathered that Nigeria’s Super Eagles retained the 26th position in the latest rankings released by FIFA.

Spain’s rise comes after their impressive performances during the World Cup, culminating in a 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final. Argentina dropped to second place, while other top-ranked nations also recorded movement following the tournament.

For Nigeria, the remaining 26th reflects consistency in recent international performances. The Super Eagles continue to rank among Africa’s leading national teams as preparations begin for upcoming international fixtures and continental competitions.

“The latest FIFA Men’s World Ranking reflects the outcomes of recent international matches, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup,” FIFA said in its latest rankings update.
