Benin City, Edo State — Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a couple in connection with an alleged drug warehouse discovered in Edo State.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation that led to the recovery of suspected illicit drugs stored in the warehouse. The agency said the operation forms part of its ongoing nationwide campaign against the production, storage and distribution of illegal narcotics.
According to the NDLEA, investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ involvement and to identify other members of the alleged drug trafficking network linked to the warehouse.
“The suspects are currently in custody, while investigations continue to uncover other individuals connected to the illicit drug operation,” the NDLEA said in a statement.
The anti-narcotics agency reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations across the country to dismantle drug trafficking networks and reduce the circulation of illicit substances. It also urged members of the public to provide credible information that would assist in the fight against drug-related crimes.
The suspects are expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations, in accordance with the provisions of the law.
