NANS Decries Osun Political Crisis, Calls for Campus Shutdown

Osogbo, Osun State — The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has condemned the worsening political crisis in Osun State, declaring that the lives of students and residents matter and calling for the temporary shutdown of campuses if the situation continues to deteriorate.

CDA News Nigeria gathered from reports that NANS expressed concern over the growing tension in the state, warning that continued political unrest poses a serious threat to the safety of students, academic activities, and the general public. The student body urged political actors to embrace peace and dialogue in the interest of the state.

The association noted that education should not become a casualty of political disagreements, stressing that the welfare and security of students must remain a priority. It also appealed to security agencies to maintain law and order while ensuring the protection of lives and property.

“Our lives matter. We cannot continue to expose students to insecurity arising from political crises. We call on all stakeholders to embrace peace and take urgent steps to restore normalcy,” NANS stated.

CDA News Nigeria reports that NANS further urged the Federal Government, Osun State Government, and relevant authorities to intervene promptly to prevent further escalation of the crisis. The association warned that failure to restore peace could disrupt academic activities across tertiary institutions in the state.
