The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that it will begin conducting recruitment exercises every year, with the 2026 recruitment exercise scheduled to commence later this year.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, made the announcement during a press briefing at the Service Headquarters in Abuja while unveiling the final list of successful candidates for the 2024/2025 recruitment exercise.
According to Adeniyi, the new recruitment policy is aimed at creating a predictable manpower system that allows the Service to replace retiring officers promptly while providing young Nigerians with regular employment opportunities.
He explained that the NCS has moved away from its previous recruitment model, where applicants often waited several years before new vacancies were announced.
The Comptroller-General assured prospective applicants that the systems, screening procedures and verification processes developed during the 2024/2025 recruitment exercise would make future exercises faster and more efficient.
CDA News gathered that the 2026 recruitment exercise is expected to begin later this year and, for the first time, will be completed within a single calendar year—from advertisement to the publication of the final list of successful candidates.
The Customs Service said the annual recruitment model will improve workforce planning and reduce uncertainty for job seekers across the country.
