LAGOS – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has filed a forfeiture lawsuit against a popular Lagos nightclub owned by socialite Pretty Mike, following a major raid on a “drug party” held at the venue.
The agency announced the legal action after operatives stormed Proxy Night Club on Victoria Island over the weekend, arresting over 100 attendees, including the club owner and his manager.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), stated that the move serves as a strong warning to all club and hotel owners nationwide. He emphasized that properties used for illicit drug activities risk being seized by the government.
“We will not allow a culture of impunity such as this to evolve in Nigeria,” Marwa declared. “If you allow one, give it two or three weeks and every nightclub in the country will invite people to come and have a drug party. We will not allow it.”
The raid, which was based on intelligence, led to the recovery of 384.886 kilograms of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, and other illicit substances from the club’s storage area.
Marwa reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to enforcing the law against drug possession and use in any premises across the country.
