NYCN Pushes for Legal Backing in Strategic National Assembly Visit

ABUJA – In a significant move for Nigerian youth, top leaders of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), including Southeast Vice President Ambassador JP Nnamchi, met with federal lawmaker Hon. Arc. Salman Idris to advance a bill for the council’s formal recognition by the National Assembly.

The high-level meeting, held on October 29, focused on securing an Act of Parliament to legally establish the NYCN’s role in national development.

NYCN President, Ambassador Babangida Onimisi Isah, described the engagement as a “pivotal moment” for achieving a legislative framework that amplifies youth contributions.

Ambassador JP Nnamchi, representing the Southeast, called the dialogue historic, stating that formal recognition would create lasting structures for youth advocacy and sustainable development nationwide.

Hon. Salman Idris pledged his support, assuring the delegation of his collaboration to advance the youth-centered bill through parliamentary channels.
