Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday adjourned till September 28 a suit seeking to stop the David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from parading themselves as leaders of the party.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the suit, filed by aggrieved ADC member Nafiu-Bala Gombe and marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1819/2025, had been fixed for hearing of all pending applications before Justice Peter Lifu, but could not proceed as the judge did not sit.
Justice Lifu had earlier, on June 16, fixed the matter for hearing after dismissing separate applications by the ADC and its National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, seeking his recusal from the case on grounds of alleged bias. The judge ruled the applications lacked merit and awarded N1 million costs each against the ADC and Aregbesola in favour of Gombe.
In the substantive suit, Gombe is asking the court to restrain Mark, Aregbesola and members of the party’s interim National Working Committee from parading themselves as ADC leaders, contending that their emergence violated provisions of the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act.
Gombe joined the ADC, Mark, Aregbesola, INEC and the party’s former National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, as first to fifth defendants respectively in the suit.
CDA News Nigeria will continue monitoring this leadership dispute ahead of the September 28 hearing.
