The Federal Government has renewed its pledge to fortify security measures at schools across Nigeria, following the successful rescue of some students kidnapped from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papyri, Niger State.
Information Minister Mohammed Idris, leading a delegation to Niger State Governor Umaru Bago, described the rescue as a “moment of profound relief.” He credited the joint efforts of security agencies, the state government, and local communities.
“The protection and welfare of Nigerian children remain a central priority of the Federal Government. Our children must be able to learn safely,” Idris stated. He promised closer collaboration with state governments to boost school security and prevent future incidents.
Governor Bago thanked the federal delegation and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to ongoing security cooperation.
