The people of Umuokom Amawom Oboro celebrated the commissioning of new solar-powered street lights on Saturday, a project driven by community effort and was commissioned by the Deputy Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Area, Hon. Awuwa Chinuikem Lucky.
In his remarks, Hon. Awuwa praised the community for their unity and commitment to development, noting that the initiative aligns with Governor Alex Otti’s vision of transforming Abia State.
“I am pleased to identify with Umuokom stakeholders. It is something of happiness that our Lord brought to 2026,” he said. “I want to thank you for this giant community development achieved through your contributions. By installing these street lights, you have shown capacity and readiness to support the administration.”
The Deputy Mayor commended the community’s love and progress, reaffirming that more government-backed development would follow due to their demonstrated cooperation and self-help spirit.
The event was well-attended by stakeholders, leaders, and residents of Umuokom Amawom Oboro, who expressed optimism for continued growth under the present state government.
