In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted 30 slabs of cocaine weighing 30.1 kilograms aboard a Marshall Islands-flagged vessel at Lagos’s Apapa Port.
The seizure took place on the first working day of the year at the Greenview Terminal, where the illicit substance was carefully concealed on the ship, MV Aruna.
Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba of the Apapa Port Command praised the inter-agency collaboration, stating, “This achievement reflects the strong inter-agency synergy between federal government entities and our commitment to intelligence-led enforcement.”
He emphasized the command’s zero-tolerance policy towards illicit trade and assured that no smuggling attempt would succeed under his watch.
The seized cocaine has been handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and potential prosecution.
This is the third major drug interception by the joint team in recent weeks, following the seizure of 25.5kg of cocaine on another vessel and over 1,187kg of cannabis concealed in a container in December 2025.
