NAF Recovers Unmanned Aerial Vehicle After In-Flight Loss of Communication

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the successful recovery of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that experienced a loss of communication link during a routine mission.

In a statement issued on Friday by Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the incident occurred within Sector 3 of Operation FASAN YAMMA while the UAV was conducting a scheduled task in support of counter-insurgency efforts.

Ejodame explained that after loss of link and failed restoration attempts, established emergency procedures were immediately activated. This included initiating return-to-base protocols and coordinating response measures with sister services and relevant authorities.

The NAF confirmed that the platform has been contained and secured, with technical teams conducting preliminary evaluations in line with standard safety and operational protocols.

“There was no loss of life, and operations across all theatres continue uninterrupted,” the statement assured.

The Service reiterated its professionalism and sustained operational focus, emphasizing that counter-insurgency operations remain ongoing and unaffected in the interest of national security.
