Johnson Nwachukwu Calls for Equity, Unity in Abia APC Governorship Debate

A former Chairman of Ikwuano Local Government Council, Johnson Nwachukwu, has called on leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State to uphold equity, fairness, and unity as discussions around the 2027 governorship ticket intensify.

In a statement addressing recent media reports, Nwachukwu emphasized the need for all party stakeholders to consolidate on the peace and unity currently being restored within the party.

He commended Abia APC leaders for their efforts in repositioning the party, noting that such progress must not be undermined by actions that could trigger disunity.

According to him, the principles of inclusivity, equity, and unity—core to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu—must guide decision-making within the party.

He stressed that any arrangement that ignores these values risks destabilizing the progress achieved so far.
Nwachukwu pointed out that the zoning of the state party chairman position to Abia North, particularly Bende Local Government Area, was widely accepted due to its fairness.

He argued that, by implication, Abia Central and Abia South should be considered for the governorship position in line with the principle of balance.

He warned against attempts to politicize or misrepresent endorsements, urging aspirants to verify claims before invoking the name of the President.

The APC chieftain concluded by calling on party members to protect the fragile unity within the party, stressing that sustained peace remains critical to electoral success in 2027.
