UMUAHIA, NIGERIA — The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reiterated that former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Sampson Ogah, remains suspended from the party and does not have the authority to speak on its behalf .
The party’s Legal Officer, Vigilus Nwankwo, made this clarification after a meeting of the State Working Committee in Umuahia, reacting to Ogah’s recent public endorsement of Governor Alex Otti .
Suspension Dates Back to 2022
According to Nwankwo, Ogah was suspended in 2022 by his ward in Isuikwuato Local Government Area over allegations that he organized a parallel primary election during preparations for the 2023 governorship election in Abia State .
“That suspension remains in force. Dr. Ogah’s views are strictly personal and cannot be taken as the official position of the APC in Abia State,” Nwankwo stated .
No Authority to Speak for the Party
The party emphasized that Ogah’s recent actions, including his public statements supporting the Labour Party governor, constitute anti-party activities that further confirm why disciplinary action was taken against him .
“Ogah does not have the mandate or authority to represent the Abia APC in any capacity. His recent utterances are his personal opinions and should be disregarded by the public,” Nwankwo added .
The APC urged party members and the general public to ignore any statements from Ogah purporting to speak on behalf of the party, reaffirming that the current leadership under Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu remains the only recognized voice of the APC in Abia State .
