The woman at the center of the Abia assault video has revealed she was attacked after rejecting the suspect’s sexual advances.

The victim, Amarachi Chinyere, broke her silence through human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu. She stated that Agwu Ukpo, 37, repeatedly pressured her for a sexual relationship, which she firmly declined, citing her marital status . She claimed this rejection bred ongoing hostility from Ukpo. The situation escalated into a physical confrontation over a minor disagreement, which was captured on video and widely circulated .

The Abia State Police Command has arrested Agwu Ukpo . He will face charges of assault and attempted murder . The police confirmed the arrest and that investigations are ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department . The incident has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice, with authorities vowing to ensure the law takes its full course . Nigeria’s Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act prohibits such acts .
