Abia Man Accuses Governor’s Aide of Plotting False Criminal Charges

Aide to Former Abia Governor, Chinonye Mba has made serious allegations against the office of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, claiming the Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, conspired to have him falsely arrested and branded as a terrorist.

The controversy began in December 2024, when Mba received a call from the Police Headquarters in Umuahia summoning him for interrogation over an unspecified petition.

According to Mba, his lawyers discovered a shocking plot upon investigation. They alleged that arrangements were fully concluded to have him arrested, paraded on national television as the gang leader behind the attack on soldiers at Obikabia Junction in Aba, and then remanded in prison.

Mba claims only the direct intervention of the National Security Adviser to President Bola Tinubu secured his release.

He alleges the motive behind the plot was to silence his criticism of the state administration. “His goal was very simple. To shut me up from criticizing Gov Alex Otti,” Mba stated.

This incident highlights escalating political tensions in the state, with the CPS, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, recently being involved in a public war of words with other prominent figures, including former commissioner Chief John Okiyi Kalu.

Mba expressed gratitude to several individuals, including Nyesom Wike and Okezie Ikpeazu, for their support, concluding that the CPS’s actions have created significant enemies for the governor’s administration.
