A gateman at Dominion School in Aba, Abia State, is currently under investigation by the police for the alleged defilement of a three-year-old pupil of the school.
The suspect, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed, was captured in a viral video circulated via the YouTube channel @ChuksErike purportedly admitting involvement in the incident. In the footage viewed by PUNCH Metro, the suspect was heard saying, “I will not do it again,” and claimed the act occurred “only once” after the child requested to use the toilet.
The Abia State Police Command confirmed the development on Monday. Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Maureen Chinaka, stated that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
“The case is currently under investigation and has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department,” Chinaka said.
The incident has reignited concerns over the safety of minors in school environments and renewed calls by gender rights advocates for stricter enforcement of child protection laws and tougher sanctions against offenders.
