UMUAHIA, NIGERIA – The Abia State Government has announced a state burial for the late renowned evangelist and cleric, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, scheduled to take place on Thursday.
Governor Alex Otti, in a statement released by his office, described the late clergyman as a spiritual icon whose impact extended far beyond the borders of Abia State. The government declared that the state burial is in recognition of Ukpai’s decades of service to God and humanity, as well as his contributions to the moral and spiritual development of the state and the nation at large.
“Rev. Uma Ukpai was a father to many, a servant of God who used his ministry to uplift souls and transform lives. Abia State has lost a gem,” the Governor said.
The funeral program will include a farewell service and interment, with dignitaries from across the country expected to attend. The government has urged residents to come out and honor the late evangelist, who passed away recently at the age of 80.
Uma Ukpai was the founder of Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association and was widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most influential Pentecostal ministers, known for his crusades, mentorship of younger ministers, and philanthropic efforts.
