UTURU — The management of Abia State University, Uturu, has suspended Professor Nnamdi Nwaeze of the Department of Economics following concerns over social media posts deemed uncomplimentary to the Visitor to the university, Governor Alex Otti .
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the university announced the suspension on Thursday in a statement issued by the Deputy Registrar and Public Relations Officer, Chijioke Nwogu . The statement said the posts were considered inimical to the interests of the institution .
CDA News Nigeria reports that the suspension takes immediate effect pending the outcome of an investigation by a panel constituted by the university management . The institution did not disclose the specific contents of the posts but stated that they were directed at the Visitor .
The suspension comes amid an ongoing indefinite strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ABSU branch, over grievances including the non-implementation of the 2025 salary structure and unpaid promotion arrears . Professor Nwaeze had earlier issued a public statement detailing the union’s demands .
