Sokoto Police Arrest Two Suspected Kidnappers, Rescue 10-Year-Old Boy Stuffed in Sack

SOKOTO — The Sokoto State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on kidnapping, arresting two suspected kidnappers and rescuing a 10-year-old boy who was abducted and stuffed inside a sack in Tangaza Local Government Area .

CDA News Nigeria gathered that in the first operation, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, acting on credible intelligence, raided a suspected criminal hideout at Tudun Doki Village in Gwadabawa Local Government Area on August 8, 2026, arresting Abdullahi Buba, popularly known as “Osho” . Police said Buba confessed to being a key member of a syndicate responsible for a series of kidnappings and the illegal imposition of levies on communities in Gwadabawa, Kware and Gada local government areas .

CDA News Nigeria reports that in a separate operation, detectives attached to the Gidan Madi Police Division rescued a 10-year-old boy, Muhammad Sufiyanu, who had been reported missing by his uncle, Sani Ibrahim, at about 8 pm on August 11 . At about 11 pm, surveillance detectives intercepted two persons on a motorcycle carrying a concealed sack . The suspects fled when challenged, abandoning the sack, which upon search was found to contain the missing boy, alive and responsive .

During preliminary investigation, the victim reportedly told police that one of the suspects lured him into a room, injected him with a sedative and forced him into the sack . One suspect has since been arrested in connection with the abduction and has confessed to the crime .
