Abure-Led Labour Party Rejects Otti’s Reconciliation Offer

The Julius Abure-led National Working Committee of the Labour Party has rejected reconciliation efforts initiated by Abia State Governor Alex Otti, describing the move as dishonest and premature.

In a statement on Monday, National Publicity Secretary Obiora Ifoh accused Governor Otti of being “largely responsible for the crisis facing the party” and questioned the sincerity of his peace call while legal appeals are still pending.

Ifoh insisted that the lower court ruling in favor of the Nenadi Usman-led caretaker committee was only a temporary victory and vowed that the Abure faction would ultimately prevail.

Earlier, Governor Otti had urged Abure and his team to “sheathe their swords” and return to the party, announcing plans to set up a reconciliation committee. He also revealed that the Labour Party would not participate in the forthcoming FCT council elections or join any opposition coalition ahead of 2027.
