The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has described as a “blatant lie” reports alleging that the faction led by Ralphs Okey Nwosu Bala uploaded a presidential candidate’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the party’s leadership denied the allegation, insisting that no unauthorized presidential candidate had been submitted through the INEC nomination portal by the Bala-led faction.
According to the ADC, the reports are false, misleading, and intended to create confusion among party members and the general public ahead of preparations for the 2027 general election. The party urged its supporters to disregard the claims and rely only on official communications from its recognized leadership.
The party further maintained that all processes relating to the nomination of candidates would be conducted in accordance with the Electoral Act, the party’s constitution, and guidelines issued by INEC.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the development comes amid ongoing internal disagreements within the ADC over the party’s leadership and preparations for the 2027 elections. Political observers believe the controversy underscores the importance of internal party cohesion as political parties begin to position themselves for the next electoral cycle.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has yet to issue any official statement specifically addressing the claim.
