Afolabi Tours Abia Divisions, Warns Against Corruption

UMUAHIA — CDA News Nigeria reports that the newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Abia State, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, has commenced a round of operational visits to divisional police formations across the state as part of efforts to strengthen command oversight and enforce discipline within the rank and file.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that the visits form part of Afolabi’s broader agenda to deepen existing security structures, re-engineer intelligence networks and build stronger trust between officers and residents, in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.

During the inspections, the commissioner reportedly reiterated his zero-tolerance stance on extortion, corruption and any conduct likely to embarrass the Nigeria Police Force, insisting that accountability and professionalism must guide officers’ conduct at every division.

Afolabi, who took over as the 35th Commissioner of Police in Abia State, succeeding AIG Danladi Isa, has previously stressed that intelligence-led policing would remain central to his operational strategy, alongside welfare improvements and capacity building for officers.

He also assured residents that Abia would not be allowed to become a haven for criminal elements, promising sustained collaboration with sister security agencies and traditional stakeholders across the state.

CDA News Nigeria will continue to monitor developments as the commissioner’s tour of divisions progresses.
