Billionaire businessman and South East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, Chief Dr. Obinna Iyiegbu (Obi Cubana), has declared Governor Charles Soludo a “City Boy” after the Anambra State governor warmly received the movement’s delegation at the Government House in Awka on Thursday
Soludo welcomed the South East leadership team led by Obi Cubana, which formally introduced the movement’s objectives focused on supporting development initiatives and mobilizing grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections .
In a symbolic gesture that has ignited political discourse, Governor Soludo adorned the branded “City Boy” cap—a movement closely associated with the All Progressives Congress (APC)—prompting Obi Cubana to enthusiastically declare him a fully-fledged “City Boy” .
The visit comes weeks after Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, officially presented Obi Cubana with his appointment letter as South East Coordinator at the businessman’s residence . Obi Cubana had then affirmed, “I am a City Boy through and through, inside and out” .
The delegation included HE Amb. Elijah Onyeagba, PhD; Hon. Ikenna Iyiegbu; and Anambra State Director Sir Nonso Ozoemena .
However, the meeting has drawn sharp criticism from political observers who question an APGA governor openly embracing a movement serving as the youth engine room of a rival party . Critics accuse Soludo of “political double-dealing,” creating confusion among APGA supporters ahead of 2027 .
