: Aisha Yesufu Declined House of Reps Ticket Offered by Peter Obi, Says NDC Leader Dickson

A leader of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), Dickson, has alleged that activist and prominent social commentator, Aisha Yesufu, was offered an opportunity to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives by former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and himself, but she declined the offer.

According to Dickson, the offer was made in recognition of Yesufu’s influence and commitment to advocacy on national issues. However, he claimed that the activist rejected the proposal because she considered herself “too big” for the position.

The revelation has sparked reactions across social media, with supporters and critics debating the role of activists in elective politics and whether public advocacy should translate into seeking political office.

Aisha Yesufu, known for her outspoken views on governance, accountability, and citizens’ rights, has remained one of Nigeria’s most prominent civic voices. As of the time of filing this report, she had not publicly responded to Dickson’s claim.

Political observers say the development has once again raised questions about the relationship between activism and political participation in Nigeria’s evolving democratic landscape.

CDA News Nigeria will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates should Aisha Yesufu or other parties involved issue official responses.
